My travel buddy, Haley, and I recently spent a few days over Thanksgiving in Copenhagen, Denmark and absolutely loved the city. Even though we were freezing our bunz off, we enjoyed the immaculate architecture and the friendly people.
Recently, I began working part time as the Director of Marketing for JCAP Private Lending in Newport Beach. I met Bob, the CEO, when I first moved to Orange County. He was hiring for an assistant position and, since I needed a job ASAP, I applied, even though I have no knowledge of finance whatsoever. Although I ended up accepting an offer from a digital marketing agency instead, Bob and I still kept in touch. Now, he has hired me as an independent contractor.
Traveling is all fun and games until you’re stuck with Debbie Downer 3,000 miles from home. Sure, you may THINK you can get along with anyone when you’re exploring a foreign country, but this is SO not the case. Before you book that flight, here are some people you should NOT travel with:
1. Picky eater
Depending on where you go, you most likely won’t be surrounded by your favorite restaurants and grocery stores. Sometimes you’ll just have to eat the food that’s available to you. This could be a MAJOR problem if the person you’re traveling with has dietary restrictions. If Sally doesn’t eat food with eyes and carries around a Weight Watchers book everywhere she goes, then you’re going to have a tough time with meals. Stick with friends that aren’t opposed to wandering in a random restaurant and ordering whatever they can read off the menu.
When I announced that I would be putting off school for a semester to backpack Europe for two months, everyone thought I was insane. I was faced with questions like “How are you going to afford that?” and “What are you going to do about school?” Although I didn’t have the answer to either of those questions, I booked the flight and went anyway. And you know what? That was the best decision I’ve ever made. Since then, I have been traveling the world and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. As the saying goes…
You may have noticed that I’ve been off the radar for a few days. Well, that’s because I was on vacation in CUBA! A lot of you have been asking if it’s even legal for Americans to visit the island and I can assure you that it is. Although it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, my friends and I had an absolute blast.
