Since I started to press the pedal to the metal with this whole “meaning of life” journey, getting in touch with my spiritual (or “woo woo”) side has become especially important.
Connecting with my inner self has been a struggle because it can be borderline impossible to unplug with everything going on around me. Since embarking on this weird adventure, I am more in tune to my body and intuition which has helped me make decisions and, ultimately, write this blog. Now I’m challenging YOU to tap into your metaphysical being every Wednesday with this new blog series. There is so much more to life than just the physical, material things and once you begin to listen to your psyche, life will speak clearly to you.
The first step in connecting with your spirit is just getting quiet and opening your mind.
Take 5 minutes right now and just take a deep breath. Start to really listen.
What thoughts are popping into your head? Ask yourself why those thoughts are there. What is your ego trying to tell you?
Don’t worry, this will be difficult at first. What I find helpful is physically writing down questions and then allowing myself time to listen to my intuition. Once something pops into my mind, I write it down underneath the question. You might hear some really strange sh*t but that’s part of the process. Your mind is just trying to sift through the millions of information bits it has been processing.
Here is an example of a conversation I had with my intuition over the weekend:
What can I do to make a difference?
Create a life that others want to live. Do good and good will spread.
How do I do that?
Keep doing what you are doing. Write every day until it reaches the right people.
Why should I do this?
Because you were given the gift of written communication. Use your community to spread these ideas. You know a lot of people.
What is the next step?
To some people, this may just sound like gibberish but these were the answers my intuition and God were giving me. This way of looking inward gives me the hope and motivation I need to keep moving forward.
In your daily life, pay attention to what your body and feelings are telling you.
For instance, did someone invite you to a party but you’re not really diggin’ the crowd? What does your gut tell you? Stay home? Then, trust me and your gut, and STAY HOME.
If you’ve ever made the wrong turn down a dark alleyway and felt a ping of unease, this is pretty much the same thing.
I have spent so much unnecessary money and had too many unnecessary hangovers because I did not listen to my intuition. The nights I KNEW I should have stayed in, turned out to be an utter disaster 99% of the time.
So this week, I urge you to try to get out of your head and into your soul. Look for those weird “coincidences” or thoughts that repeatedly cross your mind. The universe is probably trying to tell you something.
